Botulism

Definition

Botulism is a serious illness, but relatively rare, caused by an extremely potent toxin synthesized by bacteria in foods, Clostridium botulinum.

Symptoms of botulism

Botulism occurs first by visual disturbances, a dry mouth and a difficult swallowing. Then, the most serious symptoms appear, from fatigue to a progressive paralysis of all muscles in the body.
